Summary of Certification Content
RED (formerly known as R&TTE): (Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive), Radio and Communications Terminal Directive 1999/5/EC. Wireless remote control products and communication products exported to the European Union must comply with the R&TTE Directive (Radio and Communication Terminal Directive).
Basic requirements:
For radio equipment and telecommunications terminal equipment: including the relevant safety requirements of the Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EEC (although there are no voltage limits);
Protection of electromagnetic compatibility for Directive 89/336/EEC. Only for radio equipment: - Radio equipment should be manufactured to effectively utilize the allocated wireless communication spectrum and track resources in the ground/space to avoid harmful interference.
Add CE mark: Yes.
Evaluation criteria: As the basis of the CE mark, conformity assessment should involve the participation of notified bodies.
Applicable product scope of RED directive:
a. Short Range Wireless Remote Control Products (SRD), such as remote control toy cars, remote alarm systems, remote doorbells, remote switches, remote mice, keyboards, etc.
b. Professional Radio Remote Control Products (PMR), such as professional wireless walkie talkies, wireless microphones, etc. Corded telephone, fax, MODEM, answering machine, PABX, cordless telephone CTO, CT1, CT1+..., ISDN (digital telephone product), DECT (enhanced digital cordless telephone), GSM, CDMA
c. Bluetooth products, such as Bluetooth headphones.
