GAP is short for Good Agricultural Practice, which is an operational norm mainly aimed at the planting and breeding industries of primary agricultural product production. It focuses on animal welfare, environmental protection, worker health, safety, and welfare, ensuring that primary agricultural product producers produce safe and healthy products. It is based on hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP), good hygiene practices, sustainable development of agriculture, and continuous improvement of farm systems, to avoid serious pollution from foreign substances and product hazards caused by improper operation in agricultural production processes. ChinaGAP means Good Agricultural Practice Standards in China, which is drafted by the National Certification and Accreditation Administration of China based on internationally influential good agricultural practice standards and China's agricultural conditions. ChinaGAP certification is a certification of good agricultural practices for the cultivation or breeding of crops, fruits and vegetables, beef cattle, sheep, cows, pigs, and poultry. Good agricultural practices - Control points and compliance standards series of national standards, including agricultural products such as field crops, fruits and vegetables, beef cattle, meat sheep, live pigs, poultry, etc. This set of standards was officially released and implemented in July 2006.
GAP certification level
First level certification: i.e. GAP+certification, first level certification is equivalent to EUREPGAP. All primary control points that require standardization must meet the requirements, with 90% of secondary control points meeting the requirements except for fruits and vegetables. There are no compliance regulations for the third level control points.
Secondary certification: 95% of all primary control points in the specification are required to meet the requirements, and the minimum compliance percentage for secondary and tertiary control points is not set.

The purpose of GAP certification
The purpose of implementing GAP for Chinese herbal medicines is to standardize the whole process of Chinese herbal medicine production, control the quality of Chinese herbal pieces, traditional Chinese patent medicines and simple preparations, health care drugs, and health food from the source, and connect with the international standards, so as to achieve the goal of 'authenticity, quality, stability, and controllability' of Chinese herbal medicines.
The significance of GAP certification
1. Through GAP certification, the standardization level of agricultural production can be improved, producing high-quality and safe agricultural and livestock products, which is conducive to enhancing consumer confidence.
2. Passing GAP certification will become an important condition for China's agricultural product exports. GAP certification has been widely recognized internationally, and implementing good agricultural standard certification is becoming an important measure to enhance international trust and eliminate technical barriers in international trade of agricultural products.
3. Enterprises that have passed GAP certification will be announced on the EUREPGAP website in Europe and/or the website of certification agencies in China. Therefore, GAP certification can enhance the company's image and visibility.
4. Products certified through GAP can form a brand effect, thereby increasing the income of certified enterprises and producers.
5. Through GAP certification, it is beneficial to enhance producers' safety and environmental awareness, and to protect the physical health of workers.
6. Through GAP certification, it is conducive to protecting the ecological environment and increasing biodiversity in nature, as well as promoting ecological balance in nature and sustainable development of agriculture.
